Thanks to favorable ligation, Mare Orientale showed a pretty good decline in the crescent phase. The concentric mountain ranges Montes Rook and Montes Cordillera connected to the sea also stood out, as did the lava areas Lacus Veris and Lacus Autumni inside those mountains. The main image in the lower middle shows the central-lined Sirsalis crater and its partially covered Sirsalis A. The clear beam system shown on the left belongs to the 19 km diameter Byrgius A crater. Em. the clearly visible grooves between the craters are part of the Rimae Sirsal. Rimae Darwin, on the other hand, stands out only weakly in this lighting.
