Visibility I / V
The comet C / 2019 K7 (Smith) was filmed on the first night of the October 2020 campaign. British astronomer Ken Smith discovered the comet on May 30, 2019, with the Atlas MLO telescope at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii. Ken Smith is an astronomer software designer at the Royal Observatory in Belfast and has developed databases including For Pan-STARRS1 telescopes, source ATLAS individuals at https://atlas.fallingstar.com/people.php . Ken Smith has found the asteroid (6478) Gault's tail, he first thought it was a comet, but later revealed to be an active asteroid. The comet was in its perihelion on June 16, 2020, when it was about 4.48au from the Sun, only slightly inside the orbit of Jupiter. When photographing, the comet was 4,570au away and high in the northern sky, the closest to 2,1957au on July 16, 2020. The comet’s orbit has been found to be hyberbolic and is unlikely to enter the interior of the solar system anymore. 1Picture. stacked Summary image according to the stars, motion is not displayed. COBS.si:n mukaan kirkkaus oli 15-16 mag havantohetkellä.
Kiitos tarkennuksesta. COBS on kokonaiskirkkauksen suhteen oikeassa, onhan pyrstökin selkeä. Ytimen kirkkausmittauksenikin on linjassa ehkä hieman himmeämpi ennustetta.
