Visibility III / V
I came to a small field opening at Valtimo ABC from Kajaani when, at the intersection of a gas station, less than 10 meters in front of the front of my car, a road-wide dust vortex arose. I didn’t have time to do anything when I was already inside it. The vortex swayed the car surprisingly strongly from side to side and I heard sand and slightly larger chips hit the car's dampers. Among them, one clearly larger stone.
The vortex continued along the road to the service station and grew to a height of perhaps 20 meters for a moment.
I immediately stopped at the next bus stop which was thankfully just a few tens of meters away to open at another corner. I was still able to tell where the vortex went, but it was clearly weakened and there wasn’t enough dust in it to have outlined properly. Fortunately, the round got too much extra power and dust from the edge of the gas station yard. Thanks to that, I got the attached moderately representative sample of it. Admittedly, that vortex is perhaps half of what it was at its greatest. 10 seconds later it was gone.
The lifespan of the vortex was almost a minute and it traveled about 120 meters quite accurately to the south.
