Exoplanet XO-2N b - 18.2.2018 at 19.36 - 18.2.2018 at 23.31 Kirkkonummi, Komakallio Observation number 70695

Visibility Unclassified

Samuli Vuorinen, Kirkkonummen komeetta

I had been using the Exoplanet Transit Database for a long time to make predictions about the fading of stars caused by exoplanets, and last night there was a clear weather and a suitable exoplanet at the same time. I photographed the XO-2N star for about four hours at the time of the predicted dimming, and subsequently analyzed the images with AstroImageJ software.

The star showed, as it did, a dimming of about 10 millimagnities at about the right time! I was still using the program to fit the model to the observations, which is shown in the pictures as a green curve.

All 627 data points are marked in the figure, as well as the averages of ten points, and a model fitted to the data.

Finally, Komakallio was able to join the Finnish observatories that observed exoplanets!
