The asteroid of the Flora family was discovered by Heikki Alikoski on September 7, 1940 in Iso-Heikkilä, Turku. The name comes from Heikki Alikoski's father's birthplace in Haapavesi. The size of the asteroid at the inner edge of the main zone is 4.12km from the orbital time and no information was found on the spectral class.
