Binocular comet Catalina - 24.12.2015 at 07.00 Vaasa Observation number 46451

Visibility II / V

Timo Alanko, Vaasan Andromeda

As a Christmas present, I had the opportunity to photograph Catalina in the morning. Now it’s already so high that shooting is easy. I just have to admit that with my verms and image processing skills, the tails don’t pop out. The picture shows a two-minute exposure. I also tried stacking 24 one-minute exposures in honor of the eve. The result was no stranger. It seems that even by raising the ISO values, I can't get more out of it. So let's expect other people's awesome pictures from around the turn of the year.

Getting Catalina in 200mm of Dobson’s field of vision also proved to be really challenging. A small hint in the viewfinder and a really dim bulge in the eyepiece indicated the place had been found. With the exception of the dim coma, not much was visually noticeable.

Well, the buck is coming in the evening. Even if you bring decent vermete with you :)
