Visibility V / V
The supernova of the M82 is still well visible two months after its ignition. In blue light it is dimmed to about two magnitudes of its maximum brightness, but in red it is only one magnitude and in near-infrared it is again close to its maximum brightness after re-brightening after a slight dimming. Measured brightnesses in different colors: B = 14.2 V = 12.0 R = 11.1 I = 10.1.

Tuo infrapunakaistan kirkastuminen on jännä ilmiö, mutta ei näemmä lainkaan tavaton tyypin Ia supernoville. Kyse on ilmeisesti joiden rautaryhmä alkuaineiden ionisaatiosta purkauspilvessä.
