Visibility IV / V
Summer thunderstorms have gone around this place successfully every time, but on Sunday finally a cloud hit the spot. I fired the flashes on the GoPro with my finger on the trigger using the LiveBurst function. In it, the camera records images at 30 fps for 1.5 seconds before and after pressing the shutter button. Most of the flashes were hopelessly far away, a few were not captured in the pictures at all for some reason, but a couple hit quite close to the camera's field of view. The video has the best hit in 15 times slow motion. It shows the "afterglow" at the impact site. Based on the video and the photos taken from the same location, he was able to locate it very precisely on the slope of Pihjalasalo island and there probably in a group of saving trees 2.2 km away from the shooting location.
Today I went to look for a tree that had been hit. It was one of the pines in the tree group. The bark had peeled off from the base of the tree in two layers to a height of several meters and on the ground at the base of the tree there were small piles in a pile. Also on the opposite side of the frame, the shell was removed in a couple of places. There had been no fire of any kind, not even the moss had shriveled. The other trees in the group of trees showed no signs of lightning.
