The Kiiruna rocket launch, which had been awaited for many nights, and its observation finally succeeded in overtime. The clouds lingering in the northern sky until the very end kept the tension high. The picture is a speeded-up video of the brightest phase of the event.

This fireball was recorded by the Northern lights camera of Ursa in Tampere. I caught a glimpse of it in the morning when I was scrolling through the video, but I didn't manage to find it until I saw the right time here on Taivaanvacht. Here is a composite image of all the frames of the video and cropped to the original size. The time stamp of the camera is UTC time.

As the thunder front approached, I thought that the series of maximum stacks that worked for the Perseid photo might work for the lightning photo. I adjusted the north camera to a faster 20 fps for the duration of the shoot. There was still one finishing touch left to try for the next shooting: the gain of the sensitive sensor should have been adjusted to the minimum, so that the exposure time would have been even a little longer. Now, many flashes were probably not captured, even though the video turned out to be a total of more than 100,000 images to be stacked and these flashes to be picked...

I stacked (maximum stack) videos from the north and south cameras of the Kaupi tower from two and three hours in about 5-minute chunks. The stacks are compiled in chronological order into a video animation. Observation time interval for the northern camera: 00:09 - 03:09 and for the southern camera 23:18 - 03:04. About 60 perseids accumulated in the pictures of the northern camera, and considerably less in the direction of the south, where the moon is brighter. Both sets of images show the line of Starlink satellites as a bright and wide line. A couple of fireballs were also included.

In the night of events in Tampere, in addition to illuminating night clouds and planets, there were also opportunities to see the early Perseids. I collected 19,000 pictures in a stack in an hour. Four possible Perseids and a few sporadic ones came into the picture. Individual dots may be traces of cosmic rays on the camera sensor. Additional pictures show the initial and final situation.

Today, the morning of the summer solstice, was the milestone of a three-month solar photography project. Every week, I pick up one picture from the pictures of the east camera at the time of the sunrise. The moments of ascension described were not exactly scientifically accurate, but I could wait a moment if there was a narrow cloud belt on the horizon. The rocket launch cloud was very faintly visible in the bright northern sky. The maximum stack seemed to be the best way to make it visible. Thinned images also show two satellites in dotted rows.

A moon hut a few miles away was planned for this evening on the lake. Already last night, it was noted that the astronomical elements were beginning to settle in place, but there had been a surprisingly strong change in the meteorological dimension - almost ten cents of water had appeared on the ice every day. In the early evening, it was noticed that in addition to the bright moonlight, the lake also did not experience the northern lights. The long-seen car was recorded in the northern and eastern cameras of Tampere's Ursa. Here is a preliminary image from the video. Unfortunately, every second picture is missing due to technical issues. I will update the pictures as soon as I can build more of them. 22.11.2021 update. Here is a more negative northern lights observation and an observation of the possibility of seeing northern lights that appeared strong in the models a moment earlier.
