There was a good aurora night in Tieto, but the strong gusty wind caused a big problem. I drove to the shelter of Levitunturi, where you could be protected from the worst wind. The display was great at times and red was rarely visible with the naked eye.

The first really clear moments of winter, when we also had time to see the northern lights.

The messages from Kilpisjärvi told the story of handsome pearls. I went to the bank of Ounasjoki to see if anything could be seen further south here, and yes, something was visible in a clearer opening in the direction of Levitunturi.

The most active ground lightning I've seen this summer. The rumbling was constant and lightning often struck the rainless area. Fortunately, there were sometimes Edesjonki-like filming locations.

At the leading edge of the day's thunderstorm band in Kuru. The lightning inside the cloud was the strongest of the summer, and earlier in Ikaalis you could also see beautiful ground lightning while driving a car. Trees also fell on the road behind the car.

Even though the thunderstorm day was quiet in Pirkanmaa, the cell that rumbled south of Tampere for a while in the evening was visually one of the finest in recent years. The cloud rose to more than 10 kilometers in an instant, until it died away as quickly as it was born. The anvil alone remained floating in the sky for a long time. The last pictures from the Tampere side.

The traditional Finnish fate of a storm enthusiast. You are in the perfect spot, the thunder coming your way looks big and powerful but freezes completely about 50km away from you. After that, a smaller thunderstorm cell appears right next to it, and the rain and a couple of nearby lightning drives you away from the shooting location. On Tuesday, all the best thunderstorm events stayed at the eastern border, but chatting with fellow enthusiasts and seeing a few flashes of lightning put a positive tone on this trip.

The west coast thunderstorms continued, but the continuous rain made tracking more difficult. I started to drive towards a rainless section inland, where the models did not show as good values as the Selkämere or the coastline. It was quite a surprise, when there was a spectacularly rotating wall cloud at the front edge of the front near Kankaanpää, and the whole convection band was preceded by a cumulonimbus cloud. For myself, one of the best wall clouds seen inland. Otherwise, there have been a lot of rolling clouds today, especially on the coast, and several water statues have been seen on ...

The day's storm photography trip went to the west coast, where, according to the models, there were thunderstorms coming up from the sea throughout the day. At first, in Pori, I heard a distant rumble from the sea and I also saw a few distant flashes of lightning. When the rain started to mess up the visibility in Pori, I drove to Luvia, towards which there was a stronger echo of rain and lightning coming from the south. Shortly before the observation site, the cumulus cloud began to separate from its parent cloud and the approaching thunder band weakened.

In the morning, the thunder rumbled on the side of Parkano, filmed with a drone. Unfortunately, continuous rain everywhere prevented better filming.

For the first time this summer properly on the road. The early summer has been really miserable in terms of thunderstorms, so Saturday's conditions gave me the motivation to go for a little longer ride. The clouds got high, but most of the lightning strikes were high up in the cloud. This one knew constant rumbling, but ground lightning was less frequent. There was nothing particularly showy, but Ostrobothnia's unusually high humidity for Finland's level and a suitable temperature drop caused cells to be born no matter how much during the day. I started the day with high convection...

The finest night thunderstorm of summer so far. I tried to find a decent clear spot and one was found around Jalasjärvi. The thunderstorm of the coast was still far away, but the towers were well visible and flickered constantly. The place would have been perfect in terms of direction of movement, but unfortunately the sky was quickly filled with other clouds. However, these constantly flickering "bulbs" are always great to follow.

High-rise towers near the west coast. A rare chase day in Finland because there was no other cloud cover in the sky. Only 1-2 thunderstorm cells at a time, so tracking was easy. This happened to pound for a while around Merikarvia. The cell shown in the picture on the right cycled longer on the sea.
