Aurora rays

14.1.2022 at 21.51 - 22.22 - Lappajärvi (III)
Marko Vesapuisto

The northern lights night 14.01.2022 gave a reminder that it is worth observing other suns at times than where the most beautiful northern lights are. Only at home, while browsing the pictures, I noticed that the pictures had been caught in the dunes. The first picture was taken at 21.51, and the second at 22.22.

Starscape image

2.3.2021 at 21.05 - 21.21 - Lappajärvi (III)
Marko Vesapuisto

Two pieces of landscape constellations, both showing Mars and Screens. Quite nicely, there were almost three reds in line, Betelgeuse, Aldebaran and Mars. I expanded the optics a bit in the second picture, so I got the same winter triangle. Around 9:19 p.m., the picture was also hit by some brighter satellite flash, but I didn't get a proper interpretation of what might be from the Heavens above site.

Active aurora band

24.10.2020 at 00.00 - 02.30 - Lappajärvi (III)
Marko Vesapuisto

It was a clear night for a long time, so we had to go hunting for Orionids. Well, there were a couple of ponged ones, too, but both the northern lights and the SAR arc lit up in the sky.

Binocular comet PANSTARRS

22.1.2020 at 20.00 - 22.30 - Vaasa (II)
Marko Vesapuisto

On Wednesday night it was suitably clear to try to describe the C / 2017 T2 panstarrs comet. The comet's location was conveniently close to the double cluster, so it was easy to find. The pictures show an untrimmed version, and a body image of it, in which the comet may appear better.

Quiet aurora band

17.2.2017 at 21.10 - Lappajärvi (II)
Marko Vesapuisto

Now that those dunes are so wallpapered, I went through my own image archives over the years. Such a fire was received, taken on February 17, 2017. Is there a dune, or else just horizontal greenery?

Diffuse glow

21.1.2015 at 19.30 - Mustasaari (I)

Shortly before the clouds covered the sky, the northern lights could also be seen at the height of Vaasa. Photo taken next to the Raippaluoto bridge.

Quiet aurora band

A nature Christmas gift for an amateur photographer? After taking a picture for a few minutes, the sky was covered with a cloud curtain. Which is gone now, but there is no fire there.
