Pearl clouds

16.1.2022 at 09.35 - 09.57 - Juva (II)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

Behind the pearls lower than the pearls, the jury is nutty. Are the temperatures even possible? Images in reverse chronological order. Figures 1-5 are lightly cluttered to improve cloud separation.

All-sky aurora

14.1.2022 at 21.00 - 02.00 - Juva (V)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

Stunning northern lights with dunes. The sky was in a cloud between about 0:30 and 1:00, otherwise there were only scattered clouds in front. The main image is a dune child with 10-second exposures from 9:08 pm to 9:52 pm and the second is a single image of a child child at 9:15 pm. Dunes stand out in both the northwest and the northeast. Shooting direction is north. The following pictures were taken between 23:29 and 1:27. Figures 6 and 7 show a slightly SAR-like arc over the sky shortly before the northern lights began to fade, but it is probably the red top of the northern lights. The last ...

Corona

11.1.2022 at 10.30 - 11.30 - Juva (V)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

In the morning there was a sharp 25 degree frost and a nice fog in the sunny landscape. Hence to chase fog phenomena. However, the fogs were a bit disappointing, and when the car's brakes were freezing at times, I decided to return to my home. As I was approaching the hill of the village, I was able to witness a phenomenon I had never seen before. Above the field opening on the northern slope of the hill hovered very thin clouds of clouds low, which the Sun, shining behind the hill, dyed into intensely colored clouds of color. Some of the clouds were just above the tops of the trees, almos...

Green flash

10.1.2022 at 15.10 - 15.15 - Juva (IV)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

The temperature was 20 degrees and the weather was quite calm, so the conditions were suitable for the fabrics. I was in a hurry to come with the sunset, because I got home from things at the very last minute. Suddenly the gray filter is closed, the camera on the tripod and the direction towards the Sun. Right in the first picture it looked so promising that I put the video directly on top. The sun burned with the automatic settings, but the segments came off and also appeared from scratch quite nicely. And the culmination between the tops of the trees was a surprisingly long (3-4 second) flas...

Pintahalo

10.1.2022 at 12.00 - 13.00 - Juva (II)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

The surface halves of the day in 20 degree frost. Hangella showed a weak backbone, so I didn't stack to take it. Of the stacks, 22, 24, and 46r were revealed. The "28r" shown in the main picture is Artea. Figures 1 and 2 show the stacks of Figures 50 and 64 plotted and bg-treated. The main image is also mirrored with itself. Figure 3 shows a single untreated image. Even in the ice farm, crystal growth had emerged during the night, which caused sub-side suns. Of these, individual raw images (4 and 6) and a stack of 26 images (usm + bg), which also shows a small reference to the 46-degree ri...

Several halo forms

7.1.2022 at 10.30 - 11.00 - Juva (II)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

The first heavenly halos of the year, 50 photos taken at 10:38 a.m. to 10:47 p.m. In the main picture, the stack is cluttered and bg-processed. It turned out to be a very weak 46 ° ring. Second, the last square in the stack without processing. Third, still a pillar in the setting sun. This year, I didn’t think of torturing you with just stacked base rucksacks, but there have to be at least several shapes or other spectacles involved. It is planned to continue stacking. Now covers where the "guard threshold" is set. With regard to last year's stacking results, a check count is still underwa...

Pintahalo

1.1.2022 at 23.00 - 01.00 - Juva (II)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

At night I went to explore the surface created by the artificial light with artificial light. They did stand out excellently, but the impact of the direction was considerable. They were best brought out approximately in a south-north direction, either so that the light came from the north (main picture) or from the south (Figures 2-5). I photographed the crystal images (Figures 4-7) in the morning at a bright time. There is probably nothing new in these, the biggest flickers are created when light passes through crystals that are at their widest at the top. The skeletal structure is responsibl...

A fireball at night, brighter than the venus

1.1.2022 at 22.24 - Juva (III)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

In the evening I checked with the camera to see if there were still northern lights in the north. Not just visible, but with the side of the eye I saw a bright fast fireball in the northeast direction. Luckily, it also hit a picture where the focus was completely wrong. Apparently, a visual observation of this was made in Järvenpää as well.

Pintahalo

1.1.2022 at 14.00 - 14.50 - Juva (II)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

The new halo year started nicely in the spirit of surface fish. In the field opening, the flickers of the surface of the stump looked completely random, but then I happened to walk the road at the edge of the forest and noticed very clear 22 and 46 degree tires right at the edge of the field. They stood out at a distance of only 10–20 m from the high edge trees of the field. The shooting was then done from a good leg workout, as the halos got the best pictures when you squatted as close as possible to the surface of the hoe. I ended up taking always 2 shots in one squat, so consecutive shots w...

One halo form

26.12.2021 at 04.33 - Juva (I)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

Here are a few summary tables of the halos I stacked in 2021 in Juva as “bonus pictures” of the last lunar of the Moon last year, depending on how they have been guarded. There are also pyre observations from Lieksa and Muonio. The few pillars and side suns included in the table were left unstacked and the top five of the five were left out of the data when they were not documented in any way. The weak lonely pillars were also left unrecorded. The table in Figure 2 shows the observations of the halo forms seen in the clouds during 2021. In total, halos from 80 days and 12 nights are included. ...

Several halo forms

25.12.2021 at 13.30 - 14.00 - Juva (II)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

Christmas topping. It looked beautiful at the time that I had time to get out with the camera, but started to fade away as soon as I got the stack on fire. The main image is an unprocessed cropped version of the first frame, the second is the same cluttered, and the third is a stack of 15 images depicted immediately afterwards (13:40-13:42). A 22-degree ring that was not visible to the naked eye can barely be distinguished from the stack.

Pillar of Christmas Eve with the setting sun. A little earlier, a weak side sun was also visible.

Several halo forms

22.12.2021 at 21.30 - 22.15 - Juva (II)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

Little time to hear the modest halos seen. In the main image, a stack of 30 images was thrown three times from 9:49 pm to 10:00 pm, followed by one random unprocessed image from the stack. The stack brought out the side sun on the right.

Halos that appeared for a while in the morning. I also thought I had taken the stack, but there were only two snapshots on the card, which went wrong. Fortunately, there was no strange show. Here’s one of the images briskly confused and the same without any processing.

Fogbow of an artificial lightsource

9.12.2021 at 00.00 - 00.30 - Juva (III)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

I went out in the evening to freeze my fingers and toes in the direction of Hasamäki in the 25-degree frost, but the former pillar-side sun was there again. On my way home, I noticed the hill in my home village was low inside a hanging cloud. Of course, I had to test in the light of the flashlight whether there was a drop or crystal in the air. There seemed to be both. There were none of the crystals, but from time to time the mist droplets formed a rather spectacular arc of fog in the spotlight of the lamp. The stars shone in the sky and the temperature was -20 C. The main image is the proces...

Rare halos

8.12.2021 at 22.00 - 23.15 - Sulkava (IV)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

The snowfall season in Hasamäki was a couple of weeks long and was quite disappointing for the halo enthusiast anyway. Although frost readings varied between -10 and -25 degrees during the period and the weather favored anyway, there was usually only a modest show on offer, with "rarities" mostly represented by sub-side suns. The season ended on 8.12. rapeseed in 25 degree frost. This last attempt did not produce anything to report, but I will record the observation here in support of my memory. I stopped for the first time about a kilometer from Hasamäe, but there was not a huge amount of cry...

Several halo forms

7.12.2021 at 13.00 - 14.00 - Juva (II)
Petri Martikainen, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

The sky cleared in the afternoon and the familiar halos returned to the sky. A weak wind came from the direction of Hasamäki, as usual. This time the show was very modest, consisting mainly of pillars and saurs. The lower sun was also found in Dronella, but the sub-side suns were so weak that I leave unmarked. No clear top was found for the ice mist, at least by 120 meters. Freeze just over ten degrees. In the pictures in the background Saimaa Nature.
