Dim night shining clouds

24.8.2021 at 02.30 - 04.00 - Oulu, Oulunsalo (II)
Marko Haapala

The night seemed to be clear so nothing more than a bike and the preheating had time to be done in the field while wintering before evening. After midnight, the northern lights seemed to appear a bit, although they remained dim and the low-lying night clouds beneath them, but even better seen and felt and photographed. After two in the morning, more illuminating night clouds slowly began to push in and closer to three in the morning, it was clear that I could not get home to cycle yet, and when I photographed them, the morning was always beyond four. If the whole sky is taken into account and ...

Active aurora band

28.9.2020 at 21.04 - 21.30 - Oulunsalo (III)
Marko Haapala

9/28/2020 At 6:30 pm, an hour of cycling started towards the shooting location, ie on the shore of Lake Papinjärvi in Oulunsalo. Tovin got to wait and excited to see if the clouds behind him had time to cover the sky before the northern lights appeared in the sky and this time the northern lights were faster. The perspectives became challenging again as the arc swept over the graph so I got to try the arts again somehow. Eventually that sky was cloudy so I got to bike home and even during my trip home there was green sometimes behind the clouds.

Active aurora band

26.9.2020 at 00.00 - 03.00 - Oulu, Oulunsalo (III)
Marko Haapala

9/25/2020 20:00 cycling to the shore of Lake Papinjärvi in Oulunsalo, Oulu, began. The first picture was taken before nine in the evening but it was just a cloudy lake landscape. The night progressed and the clouds worsened but the faith did not end. Before midnight, behind the clouds, the green started to stand out so it went a bit like cloud art when it comes to shooting in terms of northern lights. Before midnight, the clouds slowly dissipated and activity in the northern lights gradually improved. The day had time to change so it was already 26.9 on the side and one night was filming. From...

Quiet aurora arc

19.8.2020 at 01.45 - 02.00 - Oulunsalo (II)
Marko Haapala

A clear night was on offer so it had to be cycled at 22:00 and on a slightly slower bike called Fatbike. An hour later we were already in the familiar Papinjärvi. It was bright for the sky and I wondered if I left a little too early after all. The sky was unspeakably clear and dull. The water level was high and after the previous Nokia rubber boots had been broken for two months now, it was content to stand in broken hiking boots. Browsing through the northern lights forecasts, it turned out that something was happening, so then a persistent wait began to stand still. Eventually closer to morn...

Dim night shining clouds

31.7.2020 at 00.30 - 02.00 - Kempele (II)
Marko Haapala

A clear night was in store and there was an enthusiasm to go drag the camera backpack on the bike, luckily the extra natina sounds were greased off from the Fatbike bike. When I got out, it was immediately clear that there was something dim in the sky, then again there was a problem choosing the location. The bike went on and on and in the end we were at the Vihiluoto bird tower but the perspective was lousy and again the area and slow means of transport were used. In the end, we were all on the beach and from there now something a little more pleasant to represent was found than just black. T...

Pääsateenkaari

8.7.2020 at 21.00 - 23.00 - Kempele (IV)
Marko Haapala

The lightning had to be used, but of course it froze just in the final meters. Pity, after all, was offered a handsome rainbow. Along the evening the rainbow tried but there were only modest snippets on the sides and at times faded away. At 9pm, the dim arc began to appear and it always lasted almost until midnight. Poor luck again when the wide angle is broken, i.e. the focal length adjustment does not work so a 15 mm focal length is not available. It was strict that the main rainbow fit into the image area. Luckily, a new cell phone with a slightly wider field of view so it had to play with ...

Half-sky auroras

27.9.2019 at 21.00 - 02.00 - Oulu, Oulunsalo (IV)
Marko Haapala

Friday night finally blurred enough for the northern lights to start to appear and almost immediately there was one bright show and far enough away from the perspective of the landscape in terms of filming. Then it was a bit quieter even though the camera did record whatever. The southern sky was also kept in mind, albeit a slightly challenging shooting direction, at the base with the lights on. There was some dim accordion there and the pictures grabbed next to the Milky Way. As the day changed, Korona finally appeared over her head for a moment. It took 10 hours of outdoor activities and a c...

Crepuscular rays

27.9.2019 at 19.30 - Oulunsalo (I)
Marko Haapala

On Friday night we were on the move even before sunset, waiting for the northern lights. Attempts were made to capture the sunset but it became nothing. Half an hour after sunset, dim twilight rays appeared in the sky for a moment and the camera still captures reflections from the calm surface of the lake.

Light pillars

18.9.2019 at 22.00 - 23.00 - Liminka (II)
Marko Haapala

We came to stand in Kempele's field for a few hours to stand, and I was allowed to photograph light pillars for a while. Just and just separated my eyes and luckily the camera and image processing conjured up a little more spectacularly. Eventually they faded and disappeared and got out of the field from freezing towards home to biking.

Crepuscular rays

After all, it had to cycle to the field again in the evening once in the far west, so you could expect twilight rays. Eventually they appeared but were a little weaker compared to the night before. All in all, they seemed to be visible for about 30 minutes, slowly getting stronger and slowly disappearing.

Crepuscular rays

Marko Haapala

In the early evening, a short bike ride began just five miles away. There were clouds in the direction of the sunset, but I noticed that let it land in peace and cycling progressed. Once in the shooting environment, there were already reddish clouds already appearing and so I just had to come up with an HDR series of images to come. Eventually, dim rays appeared in the sky, which were, however, distinctive without sunglasses, and again images accumulated. The exposure when dropped so Johan had color in the rays but similarly I represent the cornfield black so multiple exposures only. In the en...

Aurora rays

26.8.2019 at 23.35 - 01.00 - Kempele (II)
Marko Haapala

Northern lights were promised but to get out the sky was in the best direction in the cloud so a backup plan was put in and cycling for five miles and shooting towards the south or towards the lighting environment of the abc station. Images were created with as many different exposure settings as possible. It was warm and there was no mosquito information. The cloud board opened up a bit or made a small bend and the camera already found a very dim arc of northern lights with its rays. Then again I was allowed to turn the camera in the opposite direction. After midnight, the northern lights bec...

Quiet aurora band

10.8.2019 at 02.08 - Oulunsalo (II)
Marko Haapala

9.8 late in the evening again Fatbike cycling to the shore of Lake Papinjärvi. Nothing happened at first but one night I began to distinguish the illuminating night clouds that flew over the horizon on the right towards the northern horizon. The goal was that if there were still northern lights in the same picture and finally after an hour of waiting it came true, the illuminating night clouds had already had time to move from the scene to the middle stages of the lake. Well, not the opening of the season in terms of northern lights but a little more spectacular than what I last had time to re...

Bright night shining clouds

10.8.2019 at 01.00 - 02.15 - Oulunsalo (IV)
Marko Haapala

Tov's time was to sit on the shores of Lake Papinjärvi, when finally one night he was able to photograph the illuminating night clouds and so far the brightest things that have been photographed so far this autumn. For more than an hour they could be photographed almost to saturation, and finally a northern lights belt with rays over the clouds, which had already had time to change location, was obtained.

Hyvin heikkoja yöpilviä

27.7.2019 at 02.00 - Kempele (I)

Now no number of sightings at the masses. Last night, in proportion to the day when it was a little cooler, it was hanged along the edges of the field if even the deer visited the field of view. Of course, they didn't show up like the night before, so there was a play there, shooting the foggy landscape and passing trains with a slightly longer exposure and ... At two o'clock at night, the eyes began to register a lighter, magically shimmering single curved beach that was quite different in color from the rest of the sky. He got his eyes pinched again to find when a little gaze turned ...

Sunset rays

1.7.2019 at 22.18 - 00.30 - Oulunsalo (III)
Marko Haapala

On the evening of July 1, 2019, I was excited to go cycling. Fatbike bike in service so less than a little faster bike. When I was around the environment, I was on the Oulunsalo ferry beach again. You looked pretty (it is now stated in the clouds) and swung the camera from the backpack up and out of your hand to remember the picture. After trying to get to a better place, the birds were attacked so a tactical retreat. The evening progressed there but got different rays to shoot there. Where the official term is is brown rays. Well, anyway, an hour before sunset, some kind of reflected rays wer...

At least 10 lightning strikes seen

21.6.2019 at 00.00 - 02.30 - Liminka (III)
Marko Haapala

At ten o'clock in the evening, it seemed that with good luck it would be possible to shoot a little lightning. Thunder was still roaring well south of Raahe. A moment later we were already cycling to something. I couldn't cope with the Oulunsalo ferry beach, so we headed to the bird tower in Temmesjokisuu and get there at a peaceful pace in an hour without sweating. The day had time to change as it began to flicker. Fortunately, there was no scatter shooting here and there but pretty calmly advancing. It seemed to be coming along the coast and over Hailuoto went behind Oulu. In two hou...

Primary rainbow

29.5.2019 at 18.50 - 18.55 - Kempele
Marko Haapala

Had to cycle fast to the barn in the field. Cloud cracking and rain were expected and it came true. The water then really came and one barn of the barn was a little loose so it could fit through the lens and nothing more than to shoot a rainbow. Well, the main rainbow looks a bit strange but hard in the picture so suddenly tonk comes up. Rain when there was room. The side rainbow was only separated from the computer.

Several halo forms

16.5.2019 at 14.11 - Liminka (II)
Marko Haapala

Well, put on now that once the picture came taken. The hawkonging and filming were interrupted again by filming the halo. I decided not to take a picture but was eventually forced when something else was visible. Some seemed bright even through sunglasses and without them. Admittedly, only one side hall was bright and that one up there. What we knew was ticked and it remains to be seen how the honey went.

Several halo forms

11.5.2019 at 16.55 - Kempele (II)
Marko Haapala

The sun appeared and a moment later we were in the field again after Hawks and Sea Eagles and Owls and I had time to get pictures of them. In the middle of the birdong in the sky, a halo appeared and eventually the lens had to be changed and a picture taken. Through the sunglasses, the halo was a little more spectacular. Well, even better ones are sometimes described. The outer ring was really matte not only from the very top which also looked concave. Well, let's tick what we tick and let the others pick up.
