Aurigidit

1.9.2021 at 00.24 - 01.04 - Espoo (IV)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

When it had become clear a few days earlier that Alpha Aurigids might have a more spectacular spike this year, this flock of meteors had to be taken a look for the first time in their lives. There was a bit of a thin cloud in the sky by the time I was shooting, but luckily it disappeared pretty much while I tuned the camera to click the pictures. The balance left for about half an hour was one pretty decent fireball, which at 00.53 luckily hit the camera's field of view and ended up in the image of an observation when the direction of travel seemed to rumble quite a bit in the sun guides. ...

Eye-catching night shining clouds

21.7.2021 at 00.16 - 02.05 - Espoo (V)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

The already traditional beginning of this summer’s observation of night clouds started with clear and visible night clouds seen from the balcony from the holiday of the trees. When I got out with the shooting verms, there was an immediate feeling that there was now an unusually handsome set on offer; at this point the night clouds were visible for more than half the sky and were handsome. Already by the seashore I had to take a few pictures and the next almost two hours went by taking pictures of night clouds with water, buildings and trees on or near the Kivenlahti shoreline. The 152-image ti...

Clearly visible night shining clouds

15.7.2021 at 01.09 - Espoo (III)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

Last night's bonus balance; after spotting for a long time, the ISS also had to click on the night cloud image. There were clouds in a clearly wider area of the sky, but I depicted the brightest formation.

ISS

Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

For a long time, the Bongaa100 challenge set in motion the International Space Station. I had already watched a few days earlier from Heaven's Above when the ISS would happen to be available and to my delight suitable days were available this week, and at least considering the recent weather, at least there was little fear that the clouds would bother. I set up my passport at the scene ten minutes in advance. Even the teenagers who came to the place didn't seem to be bothered or interested by the uncle, who roared nearby with a tripod and a jerk, so mosquitoes in calm weather were the ...

Bright night shining clouds

13.7.2021 at 00.27 - 01.01 - Espoo (IV)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

After noticing the cooler air on the balcony, enjoying a hint of illuminated night clouds, I just took my camera and tripod with me and went out to see if it was worth going out to take pictures. After all, there the sky looked so not when to go. At the time the main picture of the observation was taken, there were surprisingly "crumbly" or turbulent-looking night clouds. I also took a wide-angle shot as a friend with a short time lapse of a hundred miles, when I had never tried it before for the illuminating night clouds myself. It turned out to be a surprisingly fun look, so you should try i...

Bright night shining clouds

5.7.2021 at 01.31 - 01.47 - Espoo (IV)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

Even before midnight, I noticed signs of night clouds illuminating the sky as I glanced out of the balcony. Sadly, though, I was “stuck” at home until about one and only then could I collect the filming needs and find a suitable location and it seemed like the best part of the screen was already starting to be behind, even though the filthy electric glow still covered most of the sky. But these still looked pretty good after reaching the seashore, and a couple of nice shots were recovered despite the mosquitoes (an almost hot summer night without wind was a bit of a strenuous combination; you ...

Clearly visible night shining clouds

30.6.2021 at 00.25 - 00.59 - Espoo (III)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

While visiting the balcony at midnight, I noticed a hint of illuminating night clouds, and while the summer vacation isn’t yet topical for its own part, I decided to go and describe a bit. Outside, it soon became clear that this time the show was a bit unfavorable for these corners as the night clouds were mostly east / southeast and very close to the place where they would not be left behind much of the trees or houses. But I didn’t let it bother me, after all, it was nice to go outside for a summer night and cool off in the heat readings to counterbalance the interior of the still hanging ho...

One halo form

14.6.2021 at 14.32 - Espoo (I)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

After a day out after lunch, I noticed a classic 22 degree tire in the sky. Pretty basic oats, but I still couldn't help but grab a picture of it.

Partial solar eclipse

10.6.2021 at 12.55 - 15.13 - Espoo (IV)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

When eclipses aren’t a terribly common treat, I paused the telecommuting day instead of a normal post-lunch walk by visiting to take pictures of the eclipse at its initial, maximum, and final stages. And I had to take a look at that through the film myself. I also tried to make the spots of light formed through the leaves and branches show an unusual shape of the sun, but now it doesn’t look quite terribly obvious, at least to my own eye.

Pollen corona

5.6.2021 at 22.04 - 22.18 - Espoo (IV)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

I was looking for a place on the cliffs where I didn’t disturb the teenagers celebrating the end of school and not these me and settled down to watch the approaching sunset. The agenda was to try your luck with a nice weather for both the pine pollen rings and Venus bonga while enjoying. At the same time, it was easy to see that, at least in terms of pollen rings, the trip was not a wasted trip; looking in the direction of the sun, it was difficult not to notice the unusual circles around it. In total peace, I raped a few shots before the sun set between the clouds and the tree line. (As for V...

Clearly visible night shining clouds

5.6.2021 at 01.19 - Espoo (III)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

I went out at night to go out with the camera for the rest of the photography project, but as I glanced at the sky I shuddered at the formation of very illuminated night cloud-like formations. I marched to the seashore to a place where there was a better view to the north and I had to believe that at this point in the summer there was such a thing. After all, this was not a very showy set yet, but it raises hopes that there will be good cannon in this field in the late summer.

One halo form

Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

A few days ago on a post-lunch walk, a piece of 22-degree ring caught my eye in the sky. Compared to the screen a few weeks ago, this was quite basic oats, of course, but when the camera was included, this too had to be documented when there were apartment buildings that acted as blockers.

Landscape image of a planet

11.5.2021 at 21.41 - 22.36 - Espoo (III)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

In honor of the Bongaa100 challenge, I went bongaaus Mercury for a long time. Although it was quite easy to find with binoculars even at sunset and in the viewfinder of the camera it was relatively visible. comfortably, the already summery clear skies seemed to make sighting with the naked eye this time too challenging.

Rare halos

3.5.2021 at 11.53 - 12.13 - Espoo (IV)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

Shortly before noon, there was a hint that there might now be quite a messy halo play on offer. After all, all that helped was to pause the telework for a moment and start checking the situation. The chin snapped from the outside almost as soon as the sky warped a rare three-sided arch and the ring around the horizon seemed to appear complete. In twenty minutes, I took several sets of pictures to stack and just in case, I still got a 14mm ultra-wide from home so that the horizon perimeter ring would fit the picture better. Rarities are likely to be found in this observation as well, but I leav...

Several bright halo forms

3.5.2021 at 09.54 - Espoo (III)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

In the morning, before the work started, I had a nice halo play, which I had to take a few pictures of. There was an even better show during the day, but a separate observation later on.

One halo form

12.4.2021 at 09.57 - Espoo (I)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

In the morning before starting work, I noticed a modest 22 degree tire in the sky. Thus, during halo-april, there was a temptation not to photograph such a hairspray-like phenomenon, but I still oppressed to dig out the camera and click a single shot :)

Several halo forms

11.4.2021 at 17.51 - 18.02 - Espoo (II)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

As I got off the bus, I noticed a 22-degree ring around the sun and a piece of the zenith environment above it, so I took the camera from my bag and clicked a few pictures. Next, I took a separate picture of the arc of the zenith environment with a longer exposure time, keeping the sun out of the picture, so I got a little more of the dimmer phenomenon that was exposed. The 46-degree tire also appeared here, although I didn’t notice it with my own eyes. For this image, it was a little wondering what the relatively straight section near the top of the image was; boring lens reflection or some m...

Nova V1405 Cas

8.4.2021 at 23.40 - Espoo (III)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

This year has been pretty lazy in terms of star hobbies so far, with the exception of the occasional Bonga 100 spots. Yesterday, however, I noticed that an unattended picture of the nova V1405 Cas released a few weeks ago had also appeared in the Sky Watch. The idea of almost “camera and custom tripod, take a picture and come back” - an easy-to-use shooting trip was charming and the weather was favorable, so I went to do just that. Or well, it took a couple of minutes now that I was sure the object was visible in the picture, but this was a nice variation with the pole orientation, etc. for th...

Several halo forms

31.3.2021 at 16.49 - 17.20 - Espoo (II)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

Towards the end of the working day, the Irish commented on the halo material visible in the sky in Helsinki. At first glance from the window, the sky looked a little unnecessarily cloudy in its own corners, but I went to check out on the balcony what the sky looked like directly in the direction of the sun. After all, it looked so promising that I put the work on a break and went out with the wit. When I looked outside, I could see a pretty 22 degree ring so I went to the sea on a wider horizon to take some pictures. There was also a hint of the arc of the zenith environment, although it is di...

Light pillars

15.1.2021 at 21.39 - Kouvola (II)
Mika Yrjölä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

While visiting Kouvola over the weekend, I noticed promising floating crystals in the intense frost and began to look at the light sources with possible artificial light pillars in mind. A few dim pillars came up, but everywhere there was a lot of other ambient light shedding the pillars themselves in the pictures. However, a suitable unlit field was found in the direction of Lehtomäki, from where the artificial light pillars of the nearby small business building cluster were seen quite nicely.
