Variable star V515 And

10.9.2021 at 00.30 - 05.10 - Pieksämäki (II)
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

I started the shooting season with the variable V515 And, which was in one of the AAVSO observation campaigns https://www.aavso.org/aavso-alert-notice-753 The V515 And is a white dwarf star of about 15 orders of magnitude that collects I started the fall 2021 shooting season with the variable V515 And, which in one of the AAVSO observation campaigns https://www.aavso.org/aavso-alert-notice-753 was comfortably visible about 5 degrees above M31. The V515 And is a white dwarf star of about 15 orders of magnitude that collects material from its companion - more information about the star: https://...

Perseids

13.8.2021 at 22.45 - 03.35 - Pieksämäki (III)
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

The night from 13 to 14.8 was clear, the images of the fireball camera were left with plenty of asses, the proportion of dims was higher than the maximum night.

Perseids

12.8.2021 at 22.54 - 03.48 - Pieksämäki (V)
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

The sky is full of star flights! Crafting with Photoshop all the time between 12.8 at 22: 54-13.8. at 03:48 star flights photographed by a fireball camera in the same image. A little from the center at 4 p.m., one fireball has gone into two parts (a piece is missing in between) due to a clutter in the imaging computer (Pentium lll + Win98SE). Plus a couple of spectacular fireballs. Pictured ASI294MC + Samyang 16mmF2.0 The first one appeared on 12 August at 23:50:19 Another from the lightening sky 13.8 at 03:45:11

Perseids

6.8.2021 at 22.00 - 04.00 - Pieksämäki
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

Clearly, 17 Perseids were left in the fireball camera images last night. One brighter flare 02:43:07, from the picture estimates maybe -10mag duration 0.56sec. The same flight grabbed the image of the ASI294MC from which the body, unfortunately the power line came along.

5.6. i made a 26min animation of the brains, dimmer braids on the left - maybe at an altitude of 20,000km it stays pretty still, at the bottom the magnetic fields tear the rags towards the surface of the sun. In the middle, a large "tordano" revolves around itself and throws plasma from the outer perimeter in every direction. on the right two great arcs appear and disappear at the same time, the other one again "explodes" just after reaching the top. Pretty crazy going.

About an hour seen a handsome 22 ring.

Sunday had a really good observation: a few brotes on the edge and an active AR2816. Two images taken at hour intervals in the gif.

Opening of the Ha season. Spots low, but handsome burrs on the eastern edge. The comma group AR12814 evaporated into non-existent, something was still left. Something small coming on the edge.

Tulipallo yöllä, kuin puolikuu

9.3.2021 at 21.32 - Pieksämäki (IV)
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

Hieno tulipallo joka sattui kahden kameran kuviin.  Tulipallon kesto 3.35sekunttia. Eka kuva herkällä Wateck902H kameralla 3.0mm F1.0 objektiivilla Toinen kuva  AsiZwo 294mc + Samyang 16mmF2.0 kameralla 45sek.valotuksella. sekä cropattuna edellinen. Asi kamerassa gainit on pienellä, siksi hieman himmeä kuva. Jos joskus sattuu oikein kirkas kuviin, niin ei aivan pala kuva puhki.

NGC2392-Eskimo Nebula

8.2.2021 at 22.00 - 22.30 - Pieksämäki (II)
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

I wonder if it was the 3rd clear night of the current year (8-9.2.). Quickly depicted in the constellation of twins, a planetary nebula at 2,870 light-years away, with a central star pounding matter into the celestial wind at the end of its life. Exposure with a red filter for a total of 24min.

Milky way

9.11.2020 at 19.30 - Pieksämäki (IV)
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

Milky Way shooting experiment with paperback. 5x95s with exposures. Anromeda M31 bright at the bottom, on the left edge in the middle of the Perseus binary star cluster. Above the binary star set, the nebulae IC1848 and IC1805 .., etc., can be dimmed. The image is slightly crumpled when the corners darken without flats.

A fireball at night, as bright as a cresent moon

11.8.2020 at 02.04 - Pieksämäki (IV)
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

There was a break of just over an hour in the cloudboards, I managed to photograph one bright Perseid. The same little fireball was also seen in the images of the fireball camera.

Telescopic comet ATLAS

16.4.2020 at 22.33 - 00.35 - Pieksämäki (IV)
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

One more time to describe this. The goal was to make individual pieces of the broken core visible. Certainly broken down into three parts, possibly four or more. Giff has 7 120sec exposures. double core overtaking 18.5mag star. The gif ends just when this 18.5mag star "meets" the third core part. From here, the same distance in the direction of the tail is faintly reflected in the nucleus no: 4. The cropped second image is stacked for 25x1min shots, with the cores showing a little better. The triangle image is the same but mispainted. Fourth image 25x1min full size. The last false color image ...

Variable star IY UMa

30.3.2020 at 22.04 - 05.10 - Pieksämäki (I)
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

This interesting blackout variable was brisk, which Arto introduced here just over a week ago: https://www.taivaanvahti.fi/observations/show/89171 For 7 hours, the field of view wandered a couple of pixels, and when I had left the comma corrector out "unnecessary," the reference stars at the edge of the field of view spread their tails slightly during the night, and the IY Uma closer to the center remained in a "bundle." For some reason, this made measuring quite challenging. The light curve has changed quite a bit compared to what Arto observed. I stacked all-night images of 608x40s into one,...

A fireball at night, brigter than the venus

25.3.2020 at 20.33 - Pieksämäki (III)
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

A rather small fireball, duration 2.75sec, flew from left to right in the picture. Extinguished by fading, which I think is quite rare for a small fireball like this. It flew pretty carefully over Jämsä.

NGC 3945

21.3.2020 at 19.20 - 04.20 - Pieksämäki (III)
Timo Kantola, Ursa (Itä-Suomi)

Galaxy NGC 3945 in the constellation of the Big Bear, above the Otava bucket. An interesting revelation. 654pcs 40s exposures, seeing was good. I’ve photographed the same galaxy on the same stock before, now came a slightly more accurate shot. https://www.taivaanvahti.fi/observations/show/62576 The second image is the entire image field, the first is cropped.
